Given the extensive media attention to recent legal events throughout the Commonwealth, it is clear that school officials must become well-informed about their responsibilities under both existing and new state law concerning mandatory reporting requirements.

To assist school administrators in this key responsibility, PASA will offer a one-day workshop aimed at providing timely and relevant information regarding the mandatory reporting requirements of the Child Protective Services Act and several sections of the Public School Code, including the Professional Educator Discipline Act and recent amendment to Section 111 regarding background checks.  The information covered will include:

  • a summary of relevant portions of the law and supporting regulations
  • an outline of school administrators' reporting responsibilities
  • a discussion of potential penalties that administrators may individually face for failure to comply with those responsibilities
  • practical pointers for compliance

Presenters will include PASA's General Counsel, Pennsylvania Department of Education lawyers, the Executive Director and Legal Counsel to the Professional Standards and Practices Commission, and the Training Director from the Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance.

Time and Location:  This one-day workshop is offered on Wednesday, March 14 in the PASA office (Harrisburg).  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.  The program begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends by 3:00 p.m.

Registration Fee: $25 (lunch and workshop materials)
