Description: The New Superintendents' Academy is a three-part program designed to provide practical experience to chief school administrators whether they are new to the position, new to their district, or new to Pennsylvania. Sessions will be led by experienced superintendents in Pennsylvania and will offer participants information and advice for assuming their new leadership roles. Each of the three sessions will focus on a different theme and offer participants practice advice on issues that will confront them as they prepare for and enter a new position.

June 20-21, 2012  Part 1
This program will focus on the entry process, leading with the board to create a culture of teaching and learning, and the superintendent's role as ethical leader and public advocate.

September 19-20, 2012 Part 2
This program will center on communication.  Discussions will focus on communication systems, communicating with board, staff, public and the media, and working with the  intermediate unit.

January 16-17, 2013  Part 3
This program will focus on the use of evaluation in district and professional improvement.  Discussions will follow on collecting and using data to make program decisions and the superintendent's role in establishing systems to evaluate personnel.
