PA Summit for Assistant Superintendents & Supervisors

a virtual learning opportunity designed specifically for assistant superintendents and district-level supervisors

Friday, November 6, 2020
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

“Bridging SEL Research and the Applied Implementation of SEL in Schools”
The Summit will focus on the model of social and emotional learning (SEL) utilized by the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) and implementation considerations that rely on the latest SEL research.  The Summit will provide an overview of SEL, its importance, and basic considerations for successfully implementing and sustaining SEL in districts, schools and the community.
Learn how to:
* increase district-wide awareness of SEL particularly during the COVID pandemic, with its emphasis on virtual learning and parent support, and during a time of racial tension;
* establish an SEL committee(s) within your district;
* create SEL action plans for implementation;
* develop strategies for supporting the SEL of those who are supporting staff and students (including self-care and self-efficacy); and
* seek SEL funding.

About Our Presenter:
Carol Paxton, Ph.D. is the Director of the Center for the Promotion of Social and Emotional Learning (CPSEL), an educational psychologist, researcher, publicist, and national presenter.  CPSEL, a public service agency that was launched in 2017 to work with state and national partnerships to provide technical assistance to Local Education Agencies, believes that individual and group self-care is an important component for the improvement of SEL skills and the successful implementation of district-wide SEL programs.
