Requirements Key position responsibilities:
  1. Using the Understanding by Design Framework, work with teachers to develop a vertical and horizontal K-12 curriculum framework in Science and Social Studies, as well as other content areas that come up in the cycle.
  2. Lead the New Teacher Induction and Evaluation Program to provide for the successful recruitment, onboarding, and retainment of the very best teachers.
  3. Lead the Mentoring program to provide support and professional learning for those who support our newest teachers. 
  4. Oversee the district’s professional development program, as well as provide professional development to teachers and other professionals, including the continuation of the partnership with Alvernia and Neumann University.
  5. Lead the Federal Programs (Title programs) and Pre-K Counts grant to ensure compliance and effectiveness in the use of these resources.
  6. Attend monthly Berks County Curriculum Coordinator meetings.
  7. Provide critical support and coaching to teachers who are working to improve their practice as outlined in an improvement program.
  8. Lead the K-6 Literacy team by holding monthly meetings to discuss and develop an ongoing system of support for the district ELA program.
  9. Develop and implement best and next practices to enhance and support student learning and achievement such as problem-based learning, career pathways, computer science, social-emotional learning, etc.
  10. Assist building administrators and classroom teachers in identifying and applying highly effective instructional strategies in their teaching methodology.
  11. Assist in monitoring and evaluating teachers’ success in classroom instruction through formal and informal observation.
  12. Supervise and evaluate on an annual basis the district Instructional Technology Coach, as well as any future instructional coaches.
  13. Assist the Director of Technology and Innovation, in the implementation of a blended learning model that provides a menu of course options for our students who thrive in a blended learning experience; develop our own teachers to be able to teach both online and on-time; produce strong student growth and achievement; provide our community a cyber-school education that creates a competitive advantage over other cyber-schools to accomplish a realized budget savings; extend, enrich, and accelerate student learning through the creation of a comprehensive afterschool and summer academic and extracurricular program that seeks to provide students opportunities that keep them engaged in their college, career and future-ready preparation in school.
  14. Assist the Director of Technology and Innovation, in researching, collaborating, and communicating on the latest and most important implications of technology and its role in enhancing instruction and accelerating student learning.
