School administrators are demonstrating incredible commitment and flexibility in response to students’ learning and wellbeing during COVID-19. The fallout of COVID-19, combined with continuing advances in digital technology and an increasing demand for authentic student-centered learning, presents an unprecedented opportunity to transform education across whole systems. This powerful shift, augmented by technology and driven by education immersed in purpose and meaning, requires the fostering of a culture of leadership for the creation of the capacity necessary for educational organizations to selectively, flexibly and effectively respond to change.
The program consists of inquiry-based small and large group discussions about the leadership components within Michael Fullan’s book Leading in a Culture of Change, 2nd edition (2020), which will provide the foundation for this program. The program consists of the following components:
• Inquiry-based small and large group discussions about the leadership components within Fullan’s book, facilitated during three 90-minute virtual sessions via Zoom on June 16, July 21 and August 18
• Job-embedded assignments due November 30 for those seeking 40 PIL/Act 45 hours:
o Discussion questions pre- and post-reading, via Canvas Instructure learning management system
o Facilitation of discussions with a group of leaders in your organization that follow each of the three sessions above
o Culminating project that requires the analysis of a system within your organization that can be improved, enhanced or created to expand your organizations’ capacity for leading in a culture of change
