Schlechty Symposium on Accountability

One-Day Symposium on April 17
Creating a True Accountability Mindset: An Evolution of Thought and Action
Join your colleagues for a special one-day symposium on Wednesday, April 17 in the PASA office from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., led by John Tanner, Founder and Executive Director of Test Sense and author of The Pitfalls of Reform: Its Incompatibility with Actual Improvement.
Along with Tanner, Steve McCammon, President, and George Thompson, Director of Strategic Initiatives with The Schlechty Center, will support this thought session while sharing recent information about the relationship between true accountability and learning organizations, as well as the alignment of a district’s direction and local accountability models.
We are approaching the 20th anniversary of NCLB.  Years of standardized accountability models at the state and federal level have minimized the amazing “life-ready work” that is occurring in our local school districts.  Often this is the work most valued by our communities and that indeed prepares our graduates for life.  The symposium is part of a national conversation to both inform the field and gain insight relative to this important issue. Other sites throughout the nation also hosting this Symposium include Tacoma, Washington; Lexington, Kentucky; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Cleveland, Ohio.
Bring your device because the symposium will be interactive.  Also, consider bringing your team!  This is a fantastic opportunity to share ideas, plan as a team, and hear what’s happening nationally as we engage in the very critical work of setting our own scorecards at the local level in support of our greater communities.
