Recognizing Excellence in School Leadership: PASA Awards for Outstanding School Administrators
The Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA) recognizes exceptional school leaders whose commitment to public education, instructional excellence and the profession makes a meaningful difference for students, staff and communities across the Commonwealth.
Each year, PASA presents three prestigious awards, collectively called PASA's Awards of Achievement, honoring administrators who demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation and service.
Know a school leader whose contributions deserve recognition? Consider nominating them for a PASA Award.
Look for the nomination period to begin in October.
1. Leadership in Public Education
Recognizes administrators who demonstrate a strong commitment to school administration as a profession, public education and their colleagues. This may include meaningful participation in and leadership with PASA, as well as efforts that strengthen the profession and advance public education.
Examples of leadership may include:
- Contributions to the Profession
- Advocacy for Public Education
- Active participation in and leadership with PASA

2. Instructional Leadership
Recognizes administrators who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning by developing, nurturing and supporting exemplary programs and practices that enhance student achievement and learning.
Examples may include initiatives that:
- Support the academic achievement of particular student populations;
- Enrich student learning in a particular content area; or
- Implement strategies that enhance student learning across

3. Service to the Profession
Recognizes administrators who demonstrate a sustained commitment to excellence through notable service to the education profession.
Examples may include:
- Developing effective professional development programs for school district educators;
- Demonstrating leadership in administrator preparation programs, school study councils or other professional learning initiatives; or
- Advancing the education profession through research, writing, organizational service or other meaningful contributions.

PASA members who are public school administrators in Pennsylvania are eligible to receive any of the Awards of Achievement.
Individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by their peers, staff or board. The nomination form should identify the award for which the individual is being nominated and should provide a summary of the reasons why the individual should be considered for the award and any additional information that will support the nomination, including additional documents. Those nominated may be offered an opportunity to submit further information to support their nomination.
