About the Position:
Full-time impartial Special Education Due Process Hearing Officer under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA). Candidate must have primary residence in Pennsylvania and be able to drive to various locations throughout the geographical boundaries of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Successful candidate will operate out of home office with administrative support from the Office for Dispute Resolution. Requires a degree from an accredited college or university; advanced degree preferred. A law degree is preferred but not required. Attorney hearing officers must maintain current licensure with the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Position also requires the following: knowledge of special education and special education law; knowledge of, and the ability to understand the provisions of IDEA, federal and state regulations pertaining to IDEA, and legal interpretations of IDEA by state and federal courts.; similar knowledge of and the ability to understand Section 504/Chapter 15, Chapter 16, Chapter 711, Part C of IDEA, the laws and regulations pertaining to them, and legal interpretations of these laws and regulations; must possess knowledge and ability to conduct hearings, as well as to render and write decisions based upon the record developed during those hearings; necessary computer knowledge to communicate with litigants and ODR via email, to conduct relevant research as well as prepare decisions in electronic form; excellent communication skills including the ability to interact with a variety of different individuals; excellent management skills to maintain and control numerous cases at one time. Seeking an experienced School Administrator for an exciting part-time position guiding graduates for our graduate and undergraduate Education programs through the Certification process. The Education Certification Officer will maintain liaison relationships with PDE representatives regarding reporting procedures and guidelines for certification and preparation of professional educators and ensure University compliance with all PDE regulations. The Education Certification Officer provides guidance to faculty and students regarding all levels of certification and advises students on all aspects of the certification process including test preparation, prerequisites, application, Intern certification, Add-on certification, out of state and transfer certification. The Education Certification Officer supports program assessment through the collection and analysis of data and the tracking of student outcomes. This position requires 29 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Master's degree in Education or related field required; Doctoral degree preferred; three to five years related experience as certification officer or K12 administrator and/or training; knowledge of teacher certification requirements.
